Music Arts Academy

at LTUMC


The Music Arts Academy (MAA) at Lake Travis United Methodist Church provides the opportunity for private music lessons in both piano and drums/percussion. Available to both children and adults, instruction is provided August-May and follows the Lake Travis Independent School Districts calendar. Lessons are conducted at the church.

Our Music Arts Academy has been selected for the 2021 Austin Award in the Music Instructor category by the Austin Award Program. Congrats to Paola Perin for receiving this award!

Paola Perin

Paola serves as the organist/pianist here at Lake Travis UMC, playing weekly for worship services and choral rehearsals. She also works with our children’s music ministry. She has completed coursework towards a doctorate degree in piano pedagogy (piano instruction) at the University of Texas, Austin. She teaches private piano lessons to beginning through advanced students of all ages, children, youth, and adults, and has also taught in numerous piano settings.

COST

$42 per 1/2 hour lesson

Longer lessons available as appropriate for the skill level.



Barrett Hughes

Barrett Hughes

Barrett Hughes was raised in Bryan, TX, where he started banging on things around the house while still in diapers. In high school, he marched the tenor drums for the award winning Bryan High School Drumline, and joined every percussion group he could, including Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Symphonic Band. While attending Texas A&M, he was a member of Percussion Studio (a “STOMP”-like group.) Barrett taught private lessons for Bryan High School and Susan’s School of Music. He has been the drummer for multiple touring bands (rock and Texas country music) and recording studio albums. He currently plays with the Worship Team at Lake Travis UMC.



COST

$36 per 1/2 hour lesson

Longer lessons available as appropriate for the skill level.

    Class - Piano

  • Absence Policy

    Notify the instructor at least 24 hours in advance if you need to miss a lesson. 


    By notifying your instructor at least 24 hours in advance, you will have the opportunity to schedule a make-up lesson. 


    A maximum of two make-up lessons are allowed per term (Fall/Spring)


    Tuition for missed lesson is still required, despite choice of making it up or not


    If instructor misses a lesson and cannot make it up, paid tuition will transfer to the following month’s tuition


    Monthly tuition is due by the 10th of the month according to how many weeks are in that month. Tuition checks should be made to LTUMC, memo line MAA. You may also pay online at www.ltumc.org. Click on GIVE/Financial Giving and choose Music Arts Academy. Cash is not accepted.


    Observed holidays (no lessons/no tuition): Thanksgiving week (Nov 22-26), Christmas break (Dec 20-Jan 1), March break dates varies (different school districts), so kindly notify in February if you are taking a day off in March (adults and kids alike). Notice that Monday holidays are not observed.


    Last lesson day for the 2023-2024  academic year: Friday, June 3, 2023

  • Withdrawal Policy

    Students wishing to withdraw from the Academy prior to June will need to give a 30-day written notice to the Music Arts Academy administrator, Patty Highland.  (patty.highland@ltumc.org)


    Payment for lessons during that 30-day period will be expected.


    Registration fee is non-refundable 


    Non-attendance is not considered to be an official withdrawal and tuition will still be due.
